1 dead, 4 injured following wrong-way crash in downtown Louisville

LOUISVILLE, KY – One woman died and three others were hospitalized, including two juveniles, following a wrong-way crash on I-64 in Louisville early Monday morning.

According to WDRB, the collision occurred at about midnight near 3rd Street as a BMW traveling east in the westbound lanes of the interstate.

The BMW collided head-on with a Saturn carrying at least four people. The Saturn was then hit from behind by a semi-truck.

42-year-old Rachelle W. Hinkle, the front seat passenger in the Saturn, suffered fatal injuries in the crash. The driver and two juvenile passengers were hospitalized in unknown conditions.

The driver of the semi was treated for injuries at the scene.

The individual in the BMW was also hospitalized with minor injuries. it is unclear if that individual will face charges at this time.
