2 dead following collision between car and pickup truck at Baxter intersection
HARLAN COUNTY, KY – Kentucky State Police said two vehicles were involved in a deadly collision at an intersection in Harlan County on Monday afternoon.
WTVQ reports the driver of a Jeep was making a left turn from Kentucky State Highway 840 onto U.S. 421 in Baxter at about 2:30 p.m. when the vehicle was struck on the driver’s side by a Ford F-250 pickup truck.
The driver of the Jeep, 72-year-old Arch Wolfe, and his wife, 70-year-old Joyce Wolfe, both of Baxter, were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup, Perry Phillip of Pennington Gap, Virginia, was taken to Harlan County Hospital with minor injuries.
State troopers are investigating the collision, and said alcohol and drugs were not believed to be contributing factors.
