CLAY COUNTY, KY – A 3-year-old girl was struck and killed by a vehicle in Clay County last week, Kentucky State Police said.
KSP was notified of the accident on U.S. 421 south in the Manchester area on Wednesday at about 3 p.m.
An investigation showed that 59-year-old Delbert Allen of Manchester had been driving a 1996 Dodge pickup truck north on US 421 when he hit the child who was in the roadway.
First responders transported the girl to Advent Health Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Authorities said drugs or alcohol were not contributing factors in the incident.
The investigation is continuing into the cause of the accident.
