LEXINGTON, KY – Police said the driver of a tow truck was injured at the scene of a crash in Lexington Saturday morning, reports WTVQ.

The driver was responding to lend his assistance after a single-car accident that occurred near the inner loop of New Circle Road at Winchester at about 1:30 a.m.  Police said that the road was closed to traffic when another driver went through the police barricade and hit the tow truck driver.

The truck driver, identified by a co-worker as Ralph Crase, was transported to University of Kentucky Hospital and was listed in stable condition.

The driver who struck him fled the scene initially but was later apprehended and taken into custody, police said.
