Woman killed following hit-and-run moped crash in Bon Air

LOUISVILLE, KY – A woman suffered fatal injuries after her moped was struck by a hit-and-run driver in the Bon Air neighborhood last Friday afternoon.

According to a report by WAVE, the crash took place at about 3:45 p.m. along Hikes Lane, near the intersection with Goldsmith Lane.

Investigators believe an unspecified vehicle ran through the red light when it collided with a moped being driven by 62-year-old Julie Ann Steinau. The driver responsible for the crash immediately fled the scene, heading northbound on Bardstown Road.

Steinau was rushed to University Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries a short time later.

No further identifying information about the suspect has been released at this time.
