Woman killed, students injured after SUV clams into JCPS bus

LOUISVILLE, KY – A woman died and several students were hospitalized after an SUV crashed into a Jefferson County school bus on Tuesday morning.

According to WAVE, the red Kia SUV crashed into the side of the JCPS school bus along Ballardsville Road, near Hickory Forest Drive at about 7 a.m.

32-year-old Shan’I Autumn Newberry suffered fatal injuries in the crash.

A JCPS spokesperson said the bus was carrying 60 students when the accident occurred. In total, 14 students were taken to Norton Children’s Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
