LOUISVILLE, KY – An 18-year-old driver died after his car was involved in an accident on Interstate 71 South Sunday night, WAVE reports.

The victim has been identified as Justin Kassinger of Crestwood. According to Louisville Police, Kassinger was driving on I-71 at about 10 p.m. when he tried to negotiate a curve just before the split for the Watterson Expressway.  Kassinger’s car started to slide and then slammed into an abandoned SUV that had been parked on the shoulder of the roadway.

Kassinger was taken to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead of his injuries early Monday. No one else was in the car at the time.
