LOUISVILLE, KY – Authorities have released additional details regarding an accident that killed a pedestrian on a highway in east Louisville last week.
According to a report by WDRB, the victim has been identified by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office as 49-year-old Joseph Shaw. The incident took place on Interstate 265 on Thursday as Shaw was outside of his vehicle on the right shoulder of the roadway at about 6 a.m.
Investigators said the vehicle, which was pulling a trailer, was partially in the right lane. A driver who was trying to avoid the vehicle struck Shaw, who sustained fatal injuries.
The driver of the other vehicle stayed at the scene to discuss the incident with police, and was later hospitalized with minor injuries.
Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
