Vanceburg woman killed when SUV collides with truck in Lewis County

LEWIS COUNTY, KY – Kentucky State Police said a driver was killed when her SUV was involved in a collision with a truck in Lewis County on Wednesday morning.

KSP reported in a news release that the incident took place on the Grayson Spur near the junction of Lower Kinney Road at about 6:17 a.m.

Investigators determined that 61-year-old James Kurtz of Rockford, Illinois was driving a 2020 Freightliner south on the Grayson Spur, while 43-year-old Patricia J. Stevens of Vanceburg, Kentucky wad driving a 2018 Ford Expedition in the opposite direction. The vehicles collided, and Stevens was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

Kentucky State Police were assisted at the scene by the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department, Lewis County Coroner’s Office, Kentucky Commercial Vehicle Enforcement and Lewis County Emergency Services.

The cause of the wreck remains under investigation.
